Serve Our Community
Outreach Ministries
Want to help out year-round? These are some of the outreach ministries Cross of Christ supports. Check out how you can help, and not just in the north metro area of Denver, but in the whole world.
A Precious Child – This community organization provides resources to families in need.
Altar Flower Delivery – Each week, members donate flowers so that our worship service can show the beauty of God’s creation while honoring a loved one. After worship, volunteers take these flowers out to local nursing homes.
Broomfield FISH – This community organization provides food, counseling, and other needed services.
God’s Work. Our Hands – In September, we join together for service and education as part of a national ELCA annual effort called, “God’s Work, Our Hands.”
Mission Work – Christ calls us to bring the message of Jesus to all people. Because of this, we support missionaries in Jerusalem/West Bank, in partnership with the Rocky Mountain Synod.
New Beginnings – New Beginnings is a Worshipping Community within the Denver Women’s Correctional Facility, whom we help support.
Outreach Team – Each month a group of volunteers meets to plan and implement the mission of Cross of Christ to reach our and care for our neighbors in need.
Sandwiches for the Homeless – Each month, we provide sandwiches, blankets, and needed items to those experiencing homelessness in Denver.
Quilting and Knitting Group – This group meets to create beautiful quilts for Lutheran Family Services, prayer shawls for the church’s ministry, and many other items for people in the local community and around the world.
Little Pantry – Our Little Pantry that can be found on the east end of our parking lot was created as part of an Eagle Scout project. On the first Sunday of each month, Cross of Christ collects non-perishable, non-expired food for the Little Pantry. Our Little Pantry is available to anyone in need of food.
Community Meals– On the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, a meal is provided to anyone hungering for fellowship, connection or simply a meal. We have teams of people that serve and host these meals. All are welcome to come and serve a meal or come and receive a meal.
Colorado Safe Parking Initiative – Cross of Christ has partnered with Colorado Safe Parking Initiative to provide four parking spots that are zoned for four RVs. We hope to provide a safe and reliable space for those sheltering in their vehicles. All Safe Parkers are referred to us through the Colorado Safe Parking Initiative application process. We have a team of congregation members that serve to support this partnership.
